Whether you are blogging because you want to increase your business or you are learning to blog because you want blogging to become your business there are a few things you need to know in order to be a more successful blogger. Success in blogging is all about setting and reaching goals. Those goals should change as you grow as a blogger and learn more about the business end of blogging. Take these tips to heart as you begin your blogging career and see what a difference they can make in your blogging profits.

1) Choose a niche or topic that you are passionate about before you begin blogging. Blogging is a serious commitment. For many bloggers this commitment lasts longer than real life relationships so it should not be with a topic that you aren't enthusiastic about and genuinely interested in sharing with others. There are quite a few reasons for this. First, enthusiasm in contagious and you want your readers to catch it. Second, you will need to do a lot of research and writing on the topic. It's much easier to do if you really enjoy the topic at hand. Third, you are going to be more knowledgeable and engaging when blogging about a topic that is near and dear to you.

2) Blog either to inform or entertain rather than blogging to make a sales pitch. It shows if the only reason you are blogging is to pitch a product. If you really want to make an impression, make connections with your audience, and build lasting relationships that will convert to not one but many sales, then you need to offer something of value to them rather than making them feel as though you are in this for yourself and no one else.

3) Be a social butterfly. Social networking is your friend if you want to build a blogging business or simple blog for your business. Commenting on other blogs and joining blog rings, circles, and groups is great for exposure. If you really want to maximize your exposure though you need to really become a social networking magnet and expose your links to all the major social networking platforms the moment they go live. The more people who have the opportunity to find their way to your posts, the better.

4) Have fun. Blogging is serious business but far too many bloggers take it too seriously. Ever gone to a lecture where some stuffed shirt guy has you yawning and longing for the exit before he really gets going? Don't make your blog that stuffed shirt guy. Have fun with it and your readers will too.

When you are first learning the ropes for blogging, whichever platform you choose, it can all seem like too much to take in. if you take your blogging efforts one day at a time they will pay off for you before you know it. You may even have a lot of fun and make some wonderful new friends along the way.
